What are some of the best rhymes within a song? There must be thousands of good answers to this — and I know you will come up with them, and please do! — but I will toss out a few of my own favorites here in no particular order. Of course it helps to kinda like the song, too. I’m sure I’m forgetting 90% of the good ones, but let’s just have some fun with this……

“Chaise Longue“ (Wet Leg) — “Hey, you, in the front row / Are you comin’ backstage after the show? / Because I’ve got a chaise longue in my dressing room / And a pack of warm beer that we can consume”
“I’m Slowly Turning Into You” (White Stripes) — “It kinda struck a little bell, in fact / I like to keep my little shell intact”
“Plastic” (P.M. Dawn) — “I never liked running through the crowd with no proof / So now I gotta flex in the steps of the truth”
“Thalassocracy” (Frank Black) — “Can you hear me through the sucking of your quaff, quaff, quaff, quaff, quaff? I’m thalassocracy, and you’re just Romanov, -ov, -ov”
“One Night in Bangkok”, from Chess (Murray Head) — “Time flies, doesn't seem a minute / Since the Tyrolean Spa had the chess boards in it / All change, don't you know that when you / Play at this level, there's no ordinary venue”
“Midnight at the Oasis” (Maria Muldaur) — “Heaven’s holdin’ a half moon / Shinin’ just for us / Let’s slip off to a sand dune / Real soon, and kick up a little dust”
“Corn on the Cob” (Corn Sisters) — “I get distracted from my job / When I think about that cob ... And I always do request it / Even though I can’t digest it”
“Professor Booty” (Beastie Boys) — “'Cause I'm the master blaster, drinking up the Shasta / My voice sounds sweet 'cause it hasta”
But really, the pièce de résistance: “Rhinestone Cowboy” (Glen Campbell) — “There’ll be a load of compromisin’ / On the road to my horizon”. I mean ... it’s just difficult to top that.
OK, so rhyme away!
